Carrying on this morning’s floral theme is this Tichnor Bros. postcard. It shows a view of Lake Sunapee, New Hampshire from the porch of the Ben Mere Inn. I looked for some historical info on the Ben Mere, and while I found many references to it (some back to 1902), I never really got “the [...]

Now this is an old postcard. Postmarked in 1905, it shows the Crawford House in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The card was published by The Rotograph Co. of New York, a company that was active from 1904 until 1911.

The fortress-like building may have been a hotel, but that’s pure conjecture on my part. The card has no description, but does read, “Pub. for Hevey’s Pharmacy, Laconia, N. H.”

New Hampshire Points of Interest

I’ve never been to New Hampshire, but vintage postcards are the next best thing to being there. These cards all have architectural subjects, and include schools, hospitals, and even a Y.M.C.A. and a country club!
