This unmailed postcard was printed by the Pacific Novelty Company, a publisher that got their start in 1908. Although it’s in pristine condition, I suspect this Tacoma, Washington/Hydrangea card is one of their earlier designs.

The Antlers Hotel was built by industrialist General William Palmer, who had founded Colorado Springs in 1871 to be a quality resort community. The building was demolished in 1964. This postcard was mailed from Colorado Springs on December 4, 1909.

The glass bottom boats were also a popular attraction at Aquarena Springs, the crystal clear water affording a marvelous view the plant and animal life to be found just below the surface. The amusement park is closed, but I believe these boats are still in use today to study the wetland eco-system.
