New Look

February 1, 2010

Atomic Antiques has been in a constant state of flux from the start, my tireless quest for the perfect blend of appearance and function prompting Thesis WP Theme by Chris Pearsonnumerous theme changes. For those unfamiliar with the workings of WordPress software, it makes use of easily changeable “themes” that offer varying looks and functions. They can all be modified to taste, and I’ve tweaked the daylights out of four different themes since last summer. Well this morning (about 2:00am, actually) I installed what is considered the best theme of all. Called Thesis, it was made by Chris Pearson, the same clever individual responsible for the Cutline theme I’ve been using. Thesis makes basic appearance modifications easy, while also offering an extensive array of options regarding the function of the site. I’ll be fiddling with this a lot over the next few days, and I welcome your input.

Howdy! That gray on black motif was hard on ancient eyes! Thought I’d have to scrounge around & find the drug store readers. Ha-Ha

New topic: any clue on the dog lamp manufacturer from collector club inquiry? Maybe that mark’s been seen somewhere else?

That color scheme was a failed experiment…back to the drawing board! I still like the idea of a dark background, but those colors just didn’t work for me. If I had gotten a good feeling from it I would have punched up the color/size of the text to make it legible.
As for the dog TV lamp, the only place I recall seeing the “CO” marking is on that particular lamp, and I don’t even have a guess as to the maker.

A nice gold/rust/taupe theme might jazz it up. Of course I painted this house pink & I’m dying to paint my vintage Crosley metal kitchen at the new house Aqua. Will go with the diner theme I’m wanting. Check out: http://www.barsandbooths.com. Their showroom is 20 minutes from my Mom’s.

That’s a cool-looking place! I’m not aware of a store that handles that sort of stuff in my neck of the woods. Bummer.
I’m not going to push the color change, and just wait for inspiration to strike. At first I was making the changes, then viewing them “live”, only to discover that they didn’t have the desired look. But then I wised up and made a layout of the page in photoshop, so I can now swap around colors and fonts without visitors being subjected to my experiments. And that’s a good thing!
